Workshops, seminars and conferences on the subject of crime and the crime fiction genre
Before the beginning of the festival Mord am Hellweg V – Tatort Ruhr its organizers will establish the Crime University: From July to September 2010 experts, authors and all others who are interested will discuss crime, violence and the crime fiction genre. In view of RUHR.2010 European Capital of Culture that has as its motto "Change through culture – culture through change" the Crime University is an invitation to dialogue and to scrutinise and assumes therefore particular significance.
Based on the subject of crime and beyond the genre of Thriller the organisers would like to create a platform to scrutinise the cultural and social structures in our metropolitan area.
How far is violence part of human co-existence? Crime novels are steadily gaining in popularity – what does this say about our society? What makes a good crime novel? How do I create suspense within a text? These are just some of the questions the workshops, seminars and conferences of the Crime University deal with.
There are no special requirements to participate in – just interest.
